Bootloader Unlock Guide for all Xiaomi MIUI Phones
Virtually all recent Xiaomi Device like Redmi 3, Redmi 3s, Redmi 3s Prime, Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4, Redmi, Mi Max, Mi Note Pro, Mi 1, Mi 2, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Note etc. have their bootloader locked, it’s a good move to protect its device from unauthorized access, especially by hackers. What this means is that you don’t have the permission to restore, downgrade or upgrade your Xiaomi Phone or Tablet ROM via fastboot.
Do not panic the status is not permanent, you can actually unlock your device bootloader from any part of the world though it may require a little patience as your request to have it unlocked may take a couple of days to get approved.

How To Create Mi Account
Note: The texts are in Chinese as such I recommend Google Chrome; its translator would be very helpful.
• If you had already registered with your phone you can log in with your details or login with your Facebook account.
• Or click on register now to create a Millet account.
• Supply your region, current phone number or email address and sign up.

• Once logged in you’ll see an unlock application permission page.
• Fill the Form and Tap on “Apply Immediately” to submit your details.
Enter the verification code sent to you via SMS or Email and continue “Application has been successfully submitted”
• Please note it will take 1-8 days to be granted unlock approval and you will receive the confirmation via SMS
• You can check whether your device is Locked or Unlocked by visiting http://www.miui.com/unlock/apply.php with the said device. When the link is opened and you get a download Page for the Tool, your account has unlocking privileges. If it leads to an application form Page, your device is locked and you have to apply for unlocking permission.
Unlocking Tips
• You wouldn’t like to lose your Data I guess, hence Make Sure your Data is backed up.
• Though the process would be brief, I still recommend you have at least 40% charge.
• Make sure your Mi Account is not linked to or associated with more than one Device.
• Your device may become less secure and vulnerable to Malware attack after unlocking it.
• Some feature like regular update, find Device, added-value services etc. might no longer be available when your device is unlocked.
• Unlocking would void your warranty.

How To Unlock Xiaomi Device Bootloader
• When your device unlock permission has been granted, next proceed to download the unlock App to your PC.
• When it’s successfully downloaded extract the zipped folder to your specific location.
• On Your Device, Login to your Mi account and synchronize it.
• Next Enable Developer Mode: On your Device go to Settings > Click on MIUI Version 4 – 6 time in a row to enable developer mode.
• Under Settings > Additional Settings > Developer Option.
• Next Scroll to Mi Unlock Status and Tab to add your approved Mi account.
• Note: You must log into your approved Mi Account on your Device.
• Open the folder you had extracted the Tool to and Launch MiFlashUnlock.exe.
• On the Tool Interface, Log into the Mi account you had previously logged in on your phone.
• Next Power Off your Xiaomi Phone or Tablet > Hold Power + Volume Down (-) button to boot into fastboot mode on the Device.
• Connect your Xiaomi Device to your PC via USB Cable, wait for your phone to be detected, once detected click unlock and wait for at most 20 Sec.
• Click Reboot
Congratulations your device Boot Loader is Unlocked !!!!

Let’s Troubleshoot
• The phone and the unlock tool should be logged into the same account for the unlock to be successful.
• Ensure your Phone Driver is Installed on your PC.
• When you have signed up for Mi Account you have to wait for your request to be approved before proceeding to unlock, if you try to unlock when your bootloader unlocks request is not granted, the process will fail at 99%.
• if you get an error code of 86006 then download and flash the latest Developer ROM through the built-in Updater app.
